Evangelism

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:18-20

Making disciples of all nations begins with evangelism. Nations are made up of individual men, women, and children who must be reached with the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible is clear that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom. 10:17). We must ask ourselves the questions posed in Rom. 10:14-15: “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?”

The Great Commission is our great privilege and responsibility. Our mission is to make Christ and His Gospel known in the earth. The mission of Christ’s church is not to be God’s public relations experts trying to put a positive spin on the sinfulness of sin, the horror of Hell, or Jesus being the exclusive path to Heaven. Our mission is to call all people, everywhere to escape the wrath to come, by repenting of sin, forsaking false religion, and confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and God.

It is our joy to proclaim the Law of God and Gospel of Jesus Christ in the open air, in parks, at Portland State University, in Pioneer Courthouse Square, at the Portland river front, at Jehovah’s Witness conferences, at the Mormon temple, at local mosques, at Portland area abortion clinics, and everywhere in between.
